...Enjoy Life...on a Whole Different Level! At over a mile high in elevation (5,506 feet above sea level), Beech Mountain is the highest incorporated town east of the Mississippi. The elevation almost guarantees great breezes and when the temperatures are still in the mid to high 90's in most of the Carolinas and Virginia, Beech Mountain remains cool. Temperatures rarely exceed 80 degrees on top! Located high in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, almost in Tennessee and Virginia, our elevation creates cool summer temperatures, wonderful snowy winter ski weather, and some of the best mountain vistas imaginable. Spring
and Summer is beautiful on Beech with an abundance of
wildflowers, wildlife and great temps. There are tons of
great activities and fun for the entire family. Hiking,
mountain biking and horseback riding are among favorites.
Beech Mountain offers many relaxing to invigorating trails
to enjoy. Beech offers a beautiful recreation park above the
waters of Buckeye Lake, where you can take the family for a
hike along Beech Mountain's 18 mile system of maintained
trails that wind across the mountain. Hikers often see the
abundant wildlife that also calls Beech Mountain "home".If you're into golf Beech Mountain is home to Beech Mountain Club* which offers an 18 hole golf course that boasts of some challenging holes and some panoramic mountain views, a practice range, 10 tennis courts (8 clay and 2 hard surface), lessons to sharpen up that golf or tennis match from the pros, swimming in a heated outdoor lap pool, and more! Autumn on Beech Mountain is truly awe-inspiring. Visitors come from several states to enjoy what nature brings to the high elevations of Beech Mountain. Every color and hue imaginable burst from oaks, maples, hickory, birch and beech trees to display views of the mountains that are unmatched. Gorgeous patchworks of the valley below, framed by Carolina blue skies...you must see it to believe it. Winters on Beech Mountain are filled with the shrills of
delight that you'll hear from the sledding hills, ski slopes
and ice skating rink - all located on the mountain. Snowball
fights and the making of snow creatures of every shape and
size are favorite activities of children of all ages during
natural snowfall. Beech Mountain receives an AVERAGE of 80"
of natural snow per year and many years we see much more
than that. In 1996 we received a whopping 128"!Skiers, snow boarders and winter enthusiasts come to take advantage of the 14 slopes of SKI BEECH and its outdoor skating rink. An Alpine Village and the surrounding BEECH MOUNTAIN Community provide folks with a total winter vacation experience of enjoyment and fond memories. Even when Mother Nature doesn't cooperate with natural snow, our average nighttime temps are plenty cold enough for Ski Beech's mountain ops guys to make snow. Ski Beech offers snowmaking capabilities on 100% of their trails! No matter the season, you'll find lots of fun activities to keep you occupied. For those of you who come to the mountains to "get away from it all" - there's THAT here to! Curl up with a good book in front of a nice fire; or just close your eyes and relax out on the deck of a vacation rental cabin or your own dream home in the mountains! Nothing quite beats just chilling to the sounds of nature.
